For some people it is very hard to stop smoking. In this video experts from the Mayo Clinic explain why. The video illustrates the way in which cigarettes deliver nicotine to the brain causing changes in the brain that lead to addiction. When a person stops smoking they often experience difficult withdrawal symptoms and powerful urges to smoke. The urges and withdrawal symptoms make quitting very hard for many smokers. But hope and help for smokers can be found at the Mayo Clinic website, www.mayoclinic.org

Cold turkey since Monday after smoking since 1985. Just did it. Anybody who is considering giving them up, the fact you have visited a video like this on You Tube shows you are heading in the right direction. Believe in yourself…if I can do it anybody can. Best of luck!

Another option to Quit. The ecig or electronic cigarette works for many.

Imma go feed my nicotine receptors!

that’s not entirely true. Nicotine causes Dopamine to be released, which makes us feel good. The Dopamine levels drop very quickly, giving us a craving to get more Dopamine flowing through our brain.

@Paperclown That “lisp” thing you’re talking about is actually a British dialect that is not considered an “impediment”, but of the “lower class” Brits. Kind of like how Americans make fun of people from the South with a southern drawl, or New Yorkers who have trouble with their “r’s” (All whom I have coached BTW – including the Brits). Many could say Americans need proper vocal coaches too… and we do. LOL.

  9. Paperclown says:

@DotsVoiceStudios: Why do British people on youtube mispronounce english words? In particular the TH sounds becomes FR. Tree=Free, Thought=Fought, Think=Fink. That really irritates me.

Is their speech impediment because of overbites? The British really need proper vocal coaches.

@Paperclown Coffee is a trigger for tobacco. Gum chewing, and mouthwash after food or drink is good though. As well as drinking unsweetened grapefruit juice to wash the nicotine out of the bloodstream.

@philateliceun So you’ve quit? If you did, good for you. It is a DEATH TRAP and you have to be strong, but you can do it!

I stopped smoking but still smoke the weed. That makes it easier because I still have that release of inhaling something. But really, fuck that shit and I regret it soo much that I started smoking the damn things. I stopped because it is just become so expensive. I smoke a pack in 2 days and its just too expensive, 70 euro’s a month just in cigarettes, its just a waste and for what? A slow ride to lung cancer. Quit for 3 months, fell of the bandwagon and now quit again after 2 years.

  14. TheOracleGreen says:

I smoked 2 packs of Camel Filters a day for over 30 years and I just celebrated 3 years without one puff of tobacco. My dad and my grandfather both died of lung cancer. When I hit 50 I knew if I didn’t kick that monkey I was going to carry on the tradition of dying from smoking tobacco. It was the hardest thing Ive ever had to do but I did it. Ive been 100% tobacco free for over 3 years !!!!!!!!!!!!
    Im going to live!

Smoking is obviously damaging for you. You inhale more than thousands of toxic chemicals into your body, and it is addictive, draining you of your income and health with each puff you take. Some persons even die when they take their first puff! That is certainly why quitting smoking is really a must…It is hard, but I have discovered a very good way to quit smoking. Youtube wont allow me post the method here, so I put the link of the website on my profile. Enjoy, and stay healthy!
